While Adam took on the role of the the Christ, Eva chose not to be his wife (which is why he eschewed a marriage while in the flesh), but his holy mother. She emphasized the role, giving it an unprecedented importance. As her child-husband would later say, “a prophet is not never welcome in his hometown”, likewise most teachers were eschewed by their own family, who would remember them for their childhood antics, not their aphorisms. But Mary was as central to the Adam/Christ’s ministry as any of his 1st tier disciples (though she was never his disciple – she had nothing to learn from him).
Eva’s goal with Mary was to reclaim the title of holy Mother, a title which Lil successfully sullied with her tale of the serpent and the apple. Though the story was completely fabricated, Eva judged it better to trump it than fight it. This is why, unlike with the rest of her sons, Eva appears to Riel as Mary instead of herself.
